Home Care

Specialist consultations and physiotherapy delivered at home, for patients whose recovery, age, or mobility makes the trip to a clinic the hardest part of treatment.

Conditions we treat

  • Recovery from joint replacement (knee, hip, shoulder) in the first weeks home
  • Advanced age with reduced mobility, where travel to a clinic is exhausting or unsafe
  • Severe acute back pain flares where sitting in a car is not possible
  • Post-stroke rehabilitation requiring regular physiotherapy
  • Chronic conditions like Parkinson's or advanced osteoarthritis needing ongoing supervised exercise
  • Palliative pain management for patients who cannot attend in person

How it works

  1. Initial home visit with the consultant, who reviews your case, examines you in your own environment, and sets the treatment plan.

  2. Scheduled physiotherapy or follow-up visits at home, on a frequency matched to your recovery stage.

  3. Transition to clinic-based care once mobility allows, with a clear handover so the plan continues without restarting.

What to expect

Before your appointment

Have a quiet space cleared (a bed, sofa, or floor area is enough). Bring all current medications and any imaging or hospital discharge notes to the first visit.

During

A standard home consultation runs 45 to 60 minutes. A physiotherapy session runs 30 to 45 minutes. Family members are welcome to be present.

After treatment

You receive a written plan and timeline. Visits are scheduled in advance so you and any family carers know exactly when the team is coming.

Common questions

Are home visits the same standard as clinic visits?

Yes. The same consultants and physiotherapists who see patients in the clinic do home visits. The setting changes, the care does not.

How quickly can a home visit be arranged?

Routine visits are usually scheduled within 3 to 5 days. Urgent post-discharge visits we arrange within 24 to 48 hours where possible.

What if my home doesn't have specialist equipment?

Most rehabilitation in the early weeks needs no equipment beyond a chair and floor space. For specific cases we bring portable equipment, or coordinate the few visits you must do in the clinic.
